Limitations:
- Tubular sheaths with very limited expansion.
They cannot be used effectively in oversized bores. Poor contact
with surrounding bore results in inefficient heat transfer, higher
internal heater temperature, and shortened heater life.
- Independent coil sections that can burn out leaving
portions of the heater cold. Temperature differentials
along the sheath can result in warping and bore seizure.
- Cool spots at coil junctions.
- A design and construction that prohibits a heated
tip.
